Muhumuza Brian Bishanga is a Ugandan publicist with a profound passion for children’s rights, storytelling, and social impact. One of his main biography highlights include being recognized as one of the 40 Under 40 Africa Nominees for the class of 2023, acknowledging his impact on shaping the role of personal assistants and publicists in the continent’s entertainment and lifestyle sectors.
Muhumuza’s career trajectory began as a personal assistant to musicians and digital influencers in Uganda. As he gained experience, he transitioned into a talent agent and publicist, ultimately founding Bryan Morel Publications in 2021. The company later re-branded to BM Publications, with a focus on bridging the gap between independent creators and promoters. By leveraging electronic press kits (EPKs) as a booking tool, Muhumuza enabled music artistes to secure gigs and expand their reach.
Under the umbrella of BM Publications, Brian has written and disseminated profiles and press releases across multiple domains, including lifestyle, corporate society, entertainment, and philanthropy. His clients have garnered features in prominent media outlets globally, such as BBC, CNN, Voice of America, Alamy, Nigeria GlamSquad Magazine, Teen Vogue, New York Daily, Getty Images, Euronews, The Guardian, The Sun, Daily Monitor, and Nine.
Today, BMP is a public relations and engagement agency of storytellers that spins narratives and builds and fixes brands through copywriting, Wikipedia editorials, website design, social media marketing, executive assistance, media liaisons, and graphic design.
He has since served as a personal assistant and agent to some of the biggest names in the game likes of Atong Amos, Judith Heard, Jerry Fisayo-Bambi, Desire Luzinda, Myco Chris, Angella Katatumba, Jackie Chandiru, Sarah Mulindwa, Azeezah Hashim, Sina Tsegazeab, Sean Preezy and Sheilah Gashumba.
He manages personal branding and reputations based on a proven understanding of what stories have impact, and the direction to take when a negative headline breaks.
Muhumuza is a seasoned philanthropist who collaborates with like-minded individuals and organisations to raise awareness and drive activism for societal causes including afforestation, children’s welfare, refugee support, women’s empowerment, and other corporate social responsibility initiatives.
As an emerging youth diplomat, Brian leverages his hallmarks and interest in international relations and social media dynamics to forge connections with peers across the globe. Background
|
Muhumuza was born on August 4, 1993, in Mbarara, Uganda, to Abel Muhumuza and Jovia Kyarimpa, with six siblings. When he was 8 months old, his father died in a motor accident, leaving him under the care of his uncle, Yowath Mugizi Bishanga. This early tragedy channeled his character, resilience and faith.
He attended Lyakisana Primary (1996-2006), St. Gonzaga SS Kijjukizo (2007-2010) and Sseke SS High School (2011-2012) where his passion for writing letters and editing became apparent during his time as a magazine sub-editor in secondary school. Brian went to Makerere University (2013-2016) for a Project Planning & Management diploma.
Brian’s personality is a mix of charisma, wit and deep empathy. He enjoys writing and reading memoirs, listening to ballads, and meditating. His passion for cooking mirrors his skill in public relations—blending flavors and words with finesse. He finds solace in meditation and humility to maintain equilibrium amid a busy career.
